Accessibility
1. Standard
COSMIC aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on every page of the website at cosmic.audio.
2. What the website supports
- Pages can be operated from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a link at the top of each page that skips to the main content.
- Pages use headings, landmarks, labelled form fields and tables with header cells, so screen readers can navigate them.
- Each chart has a written description that lists its values. The Evaluation page carries the full data tables.
- Status messages and form errors are announced by screen readers, and fields with errors are marked as invalid.
- The animated background, the logo and the graphs' entrance animation stop when the device is set to reduce motion, and the graphs then show their finished state at once. A Reduce motion button in the footer of every page does the same on request, and the choice is remembered on that device.
- A High contrast button in the footer of every page switches to a palette with stronger text, borders and chart colours. The choice is remembered on that device, and it starts on if the device is set to request more contrast.
- In the default palette, body text has a contrast ratio of at least 5.4 to 1, and the blue used for bars, meters and other graphics is at least 3.2 to 1 against its panel. Form field borders are at least 3.7 to 1 against the field. Every chart value is also written as text.
- Text resizes and pages reflow down to a 320 pixel width without horizontal scrolling, except for data tables and code samples, which scroll within their own frame.
3. Known limitations
- The human check on forms is provided by Cloudflare Turnstile, a third-party service whose accessibility we do not control.
4. How it was checked
On 7 October 2026 every page was audited with Lighthouse's accessibility checks in Chrome, and the keyboard skip link, focus outlines, page reflow at 320 pixels wide, and the reduce motion and high contrast buttons were tested by hand. On 26 October 2026 the contrast ratios of text, chart and meter colours and form field borders were recalculated against WCAG 2.2, and the home page with a result showing and the FAQ page were audited again with Lighthouse. The background artwork is drawn on canvas elements that are hidden from assistive technology, and the browser's accessibility tree contains no text from it. It has not yet been tested with screen reader software.
5. Report a barrier
